Autism Assistant: A Platform for Autism Home-Based Therapeutic Intervention

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is regarded as gold standard for treating autism [1]. However, it requires a significant time commitment 20 40 hours per week, which can be expensive families who may not able afford treatment. ABA therapists emphasize importance practicing therapeutic techniques in child’s natural environment maintain their effectiveness. Therefore, there need supplement therapy home where children spend most time. If parent or caregiver assumes role co-therapist practices with child, result faster skills improvement. many parents lack knowledge about protocols. To address this gap, we conducted research developed educational software interventions Romanian diagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) home-based setting. We followed Double Diamond Model, emphasizing core principle Human-Centered Design (HCD) methodology, design focus on special needs end-users. This involved developing proto-personas, wireframes, interactive prototypes, exploring latest technologies, incorporating feedback from experienced therapists. Based these inputs, Assistant platform, includes mobile application built Unity web React Ruby Rails. The platform underwent evaluation using Quantitative Evaluation Framework (QEF) based ISO 9126, was considered suitable education.
